GDF Online Summit

GDF 24H ONLINE SUMMIT | 2021 GOOD FARMERS; 2031 GREAT FARMERS

"Building networks, solving questions"

No matter which time zone you are in, we’ve got you covered. GDF organized an online dairy event around the globe!

Each live block consist of an inspiring Keynote speaker together with dairy famers for a paneldiscussion. Then you can join the World Dairy Table Discussion, where you can choose between different topics/breakoutrooms. And we proudly present the Farmers Solution Center, which is the final part of each live block.

We invited top level speakers, true inspirers! The keynote speakers came from different fields within the dairy industry. Mary Ledman (USA), Pallavi Vyas (IND) and Robert Erhard (CHE) each triggered the mind, and engaged us in fascinating discussions.

Our dairy experts from Holm&Laue, MSD Animal Health, Lely, VES-Artex, Jaylor, Aeres University and Denkavit invited us to join them at their World Dairy Table Discussions. Each topic combined visionary ideas, good questions and practical answers.

Walking through a barn and sniffing if the feed is alright, may still not be possible at this time, but we got as close as it gets! Farmers from different continents of the world guided us through their farm and picked out topics which we like to call "the smoking guns of the dairy industry". For those who participated, we hope you enjoyed the Farmers Solution Center, together with Hans-Peter Greve & Sven Koops (DUE &NZL), Pankaj Navani (IND), Murray Douglas (NZL), Martijn Damsteegt (DNK) and Ken McCarty (USA).

This was a true dairy farmers event. Going from Global market developments and trends to Succession, Automation to Carbon sequestration, Communication and license to produce, People management, etc.

Farmer’s Challenge & Opportunity: Cross-pollination by knowing both systems: grass-based and high intensive. Its learnings.

Hans-Peter Greve and Sven Koops, Milchhof Rodenwalde, Germany & New Zealand

Sven has joined Milchhof Rodenwalde in Germany with the specific aim to understand a dairy farm system that is very different from a (e.g. New Zealand) pasture-based system. I now believe that both systems have great features but equally also face their own sets of specific challenges. The question for me is: Are there opportunities for both systems to learn from each other at a management level? I believe so.
