University of applied sciences CAH Dronten: Minor International Agro Management/ eitquette lecture
07/02/2012
An important part of this particular course at the CAH Dronten is how to act as a member of the management team in a professional environment. Here we give practical trainings to our students about what to wear and how to behave during an official dinner or important business meeting. When you are at this type of meeting and are in contact with a lot of interesting people for your work and your employer, there is the possibility to increase your network.
The first impression should be good, because you are at that moment the representative of the company you work for. The Dutch people are known for their directness and sometimes, in a foreign point of view, tactless and rude behavior. When you are aware of this and you know that in a foreign country the culture is very respectful, more indirect and often with a more official dress code, you can take advantage of this knowledge while conducting business.
In this article you see some pictures of our students during a practical lesson about etiquette and dress codes during a business meeting in a restaurant of the hotel school in Leeuwarden. They were served by students of this school and also the five course dinner was prepared and cooked by students of this hotel school. They have to eat with various types of cutlery and sample white and red wines combined with the food.
The students could even bring a guest to this dinner; most of them were with their girlfriend or boyfriend. So they have to take also care about the etiquette when you having dinner in the company of ladies. Although it is a very serious and useful lecture there was a lot of laughing and fun at the tables. Sometimes studying is not so hard, especially at the CAH in Dronten.
